NFL insider Peter Schrager has Eagles taking standout DB in first round
The Philadelphia Eagles head into the NFL Draft looking to rebuild their defense.
Just two years removed from their run to the Super Bowl, the Eagles defense has been questionable at best ever since blowing a 10-point lead at halftime to the Chiefs at the 2022 season finale in Phoenix.
It comes as no surprise then that many mock drafts have Philadelphia looking for help in their secondary in the first round. By the time the Eaglesā pick rolls around at No. 22, there should still be plenty of talent left on the board.
In his first mock draft of the year, NFL Networkās Peter Schrager believes his pinpointed the Eaglesā man: Iowa DB Cooper DeJean.
āDeJean had an outstanding college career and showed outĀ at his private workout,ā Schrager wrote. āHe can play corner or safety and is a special teams Swiss Army Knife. Is 22 too rich? Maybe. But I can see him in an Eagles uniform.ā
DeJean is a versatile defensive weapon that could take on several different roles for the Eagles both on defense and special teams.
In his sophomore season at Iowa, DeJean returned three interceptions for touchdowns, finding the end zone more times than any Hawkeyes receiver did that year.

ā NFL Draft Files (@NFL_DF) April 14, 2024While the Eaglesā decision will ultimately come down to who is on the board when their pick comes up, donāt be surprised if DeJeanās name is called at No. 22 for Philadelphia.
The first round of the NFL Draft is set to begin on Thursday, April 25 in Detroit.
