After suffering a hamstring injury in preseason, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren could be sidelined for a while.

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Warren could miss “a few weeks,” and his status for the Steelers’ first game of the season against the Atlanta Falcons is still unclear.

Warren was undrafted out of Oklahoma State in 2022 and has turned into a solid player. In his second NFL season in 2023, he had 784 rushing yards and four touchdowns, also picking up 370 receiving yards on 61 receptions.

He left Saturday’s preseason game against the Buffalo Bills after recording just one carry.

With Warren potentially sidelined, the Steelers will look to starting running back Najee Harris to step up after another solid season last year. The fourth-year halfback has recorded 1,000-plus rushing yards in each of his first three seasons and will look to do the same in 2024.

Along with Harris, Pittsburgh will hope to get plenty of production from Cordarrelle Patterson, who joined the Steelers this offseason. While the veteran has yet to break through in the NFL, Warren being out could be a prime opportunity for Patterson to have a big year.

The Steelers offense has struggled early on in the preseason despite new quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, and they’ll hope being without Warren won’t stunt their progress even further.
