Ahead of his second season as Georgia’s starter, quarterback Carson Beck is drawing high comparisons from NFL scouts.

Per ESPN’s Jordan Reid, one NFC southeast area scout compared Beck to a former No. 1 overall pick.

“Think [Jared] Goff coming out of Cal. They have a lot of similarities,” the scout said.

Goff, who spent three years at Cal from 2013 to 2015, had 4,714 passing yards and 43 touchdowns in his final year, earning All-Pac-12 honors. If Beck can have that kind of success, he could be in a position to be one of the first quarterbacks off the board, should he choose to opt for the NFL draft.

Last season, Beck had 3,941 passing yards and 24 touchdowns while leading Georgia to an SEC Championship appearance. Now that he has his first season as a starter under his belt, he’ll look to continue his momentum and have an even better year.

While he won’t have stars like tight end Brock Bowers or wide receiver Ladd McConkey to throw to this year, he still has some talented wideouts like Dominic Lovett and Dillon Bell, who could be due for big seasons.

The Bulldogs had another undefeated regular season last year, but fell short in the SEC Championship to Alabama before trouncing Florida State in the Orange Bowl 63-3. With Beck returning, Georgia will look to compete for a national championship once again.
