NFL Week 7 odds have the Eagles as road favorites against the Giants

Philadelphia Eagles fans are not exactly feeling great about their favorite team’s outlook following a narrow win over the Cleveland Browns. Check out these postgame polling results:

Despite this reasonable sentiment, there’s a real chance for the Eagles to win their second game in a row to advance to 4-2 next weekend.

The Birds opened as 3.5-point road favorites against the New York Giants, according to according to FanDuel.

Now’s probably a relevant time to mention that the Eagles are not very good at covering! In fact, they’re just 1-7 against the spread in their last eight games as favorites.

In many regards, it’s difficult to trust the Eagles.

But are you really going to bank on the Giants?

Here’s an overview of their 2-4 resume thus far:

Week 1 vs. Minnesota Vikings: 28 to 6, LOSS
Week 2 at Washington Commanders: 21 to 18, LOSS
Week 3 at Cleveland Browns: 21 to 15, WIN
Week 4 vs. Dallas Cowboys: 20 to 15, LOSS
Week 5 at Seattle Seahawks: 29 to 20, WIN
Week 6 vs. Cincinnati Bengals: 17 to 7, LOSS

Outside of Week 1, when they played one of the NFL’s two remaining undefeated teams, the Giants have been competitive. It just hasn’t looked very pretty. While their defense has allowed the 10th-fewest points per game, their offense ranks 27th in points per game.

The Giants’ passing attack will get a big boost if Malik Nabers is able to return. The rookie standout has missed the last two games due to a concussion. His status bears monitoring this week. Leading rusher Devin Singletary might also be back after missing time.

Hey, speaking of running backs, this big angle this week is obviously going to be about Saquon Barkely’s first game back at MetLife Stadium. A few critical mistakes aside, Barkley’s been pretty great for the Eagles so far this season. One would imagine he’s extra motivated to go off against his former team. Barkley might just have his revenge considering the Giants are tied for allowing the second-most yards per rush attempt (5.1).

Getting back to the big picture view on the Eagles, though, it’s just not easy to have confidence in this team right now. They have a lot of issues and Nick Sirianni — who is certainly one of the problems — doesn’t appear to have great answers. If he did, the Eagles wouldn’t regularly struggle to cover the spread as favorites.
