Nigeria vs Ghana: Super Eagles predicted XI-Ekong out, Dessers and Ndidi in

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will renew their rivalry with the Black Stars of Ghana in an international friendly game on Friday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Enyimba boss Finidi George has been tasked with leading the Super Eagles into the next two international friendly games against Ghana and Mali.

Ahead of the fixtures, the Nigeria Football Federation announced a 26-man list. However, some players have pulled out, including Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Gabriel Osho.

With these players out, coach Finidi would have to make some tweaks to the team. Moreover, there are some players who missed out on the AFCON but are now back in the squad.

With the game against Ghana on Friday, Soccernet.ng aims to predict the Super Eagles’ lineup.

Goalkeeper: After an amazing performance at the 2023 AFCON, Stanley Nwabali is expected to retain his place. He has been a regular for Chippa United since he returned to the club from the AFCON, so he is still in good form.

Defenders: With William Troost-Ekong out because of an injury, Finidi will have to tweak his team. Also, he is expected to shift from the 3-4-3 formation to the 4-3-3. Thus, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Jamilu Collins are expected to start.

Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi’s return is expected to add a new dynamic to the Super Eagles team. As such, he will get the nod in defensive midfield. Also, Alex Iwobi will start because of his impressive form, while Frank Onyeka will operate from central midfield.

Forwards: In Osimhen’s absence, Finidi faces a quagmire. He has to decide which of Kelechi Ihenacho, Cyriel Dessers, and Sadiq Umar to start. The wings look sorted, though, as Ademola Lookman and Moses Simon are expected to keep their place in the starting eleven. So the forwards should be Simon, Dessers, and Lookman.
