No Discount for Atelier Ryza Owners Hoping to Upgrade to New DX Versions on PS5, PS4
DX marks the spot
Existing owners of any of the Atelier Ryza games hoping to upgrade to the new DX versions may be disappointed to learn there’ll be no upgrade path.
While the re-releases will support cross-buy across PS5 and PS4 – entitling you to play the crafting RPG on either of the systems using a single purchase – you won’t get a discount if you’ve bought these titles either at retail or on the PS Store before.
Amusingly, though, you will unlock bonus costumes by importing your saves from the previous versions. However, your progress cannot be transferred.
All three of the games will be available digitally a la carte, or as part of a triple-pack. Pre-orders will come with three photo poses and one additional photo frame for photo mode, available in each game.
The re-releases are due out on 13th November, and feature all previously released DLC, as well as new scenarios, quality of life improvements, and visual options.
You can see a breakdown of all the new content being added to each game on the franchise’s official website, and here’s the official blurb from Koei Tecmo:
“Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack will reintroduce fans to the summer adventures of fan-favourite alchemist Reisalin Stout and her friends in a collection featuring all three titles from the ‘Secret’ series, which sold over 2.5 million units worldwide. The Deluxe Pack will include new content for each title, such as new playable characters, each with new character stills designed by artist Toridamono, and new story episodes written by Yashichiro Takahashi, scenario writer of the ‘Secret’ series.”
While it does seem like the additions are substantial, it doesn’t look like anywhere near enough to justify double dipping. In that case, without any real upgrade path, we’d only really recommend these re-releases to fans who’ve never played them before.
