Wide receiver DeKaylin âDKâ Metcalf, who was recently traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, casually revealed their engagement in an Instagram video about joining his new team. “Shoutout to my beautiful fiancĂ©e for being here with me,â the NFL player said in the clip. âCanât wait to step onto the field with the rest of the Black and Gold Nation.â
The instagram post also featured multiple photos of Normani and Metcalf posing with a Steelers helmetâand if you look closely, you can see a glimpse of Normani’s stunning engagement ring in slide four.
But how did the Fifth Harmony alum meet the former Seattle Seahawk? Well, let’s just say the move to Pittsburgh is pretty full-circle. Here’s a complete timeline of Normani and DK Metcalf’s relationship.
March 13, 2025: The same day Metcalf announces the engagement via the Steelers’ Instagram account, he revealed more details about the proposal during a press conference. âHold that rock up, baby,â he tells Normani in front of reporters.
âMy family and her family was in Houston. It was my sisterâs spring break,â he tells the press after confirming he proposed âyesterday,â March 12. â[I] just thought about getting the whole family together for a big kumbaya and joining our families with a ring.â
That same day, Grammy-winning singer Ciara shares a screengrab of the newly-engaged couple showing off their ring over Facetime. Ciara and husband Russell Wilson introduced them, after all. Now is probably a good time to point out Wilson is the quarterback for the SteelersâŠ

March 12, 2025: Metcalf proposes during his sister’s spring break trip to Houston.
June 18, 2024: Normani explains how Ciara and Russell Wilson played âcupidâ at an event after talking up the former Seattle Seahawk for a while. “If you could trust a couple [to set you up], that would be the couple,” she tells Apple Music host Ebro Darden.
According to Normani, Ciara (whom she calls âCeCeâ in the clip) was very insistent that she show up at a branded party. âI just knew it was something else cuz she was just very adamant,â she says of Ciara’s invitation. âWhen I was on the way she was like, ‘Oh yeah your boy’s going to be there,’ and I was said, ‘Okay, I see what you was trying to do here’âand they were doing the same to him!”
She continues, “They was playing cupid but it worked.”
In the same interview, she also says Metcalf âinspiredâ some of the records on her debut solo studio album, Dopamine.
June 5, 2024: âIâm happy. I am very happy. Definitely an answered prayer,â Normani says of Metcalf in an interview with Rolling Stone. âIâve experienced a lot with relationships. Iâm a real lover girl. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and finding space where thatâs reciprocated feels good. I like to see myself happy. I really do.”
May 1, 2024: Normani confirms Ciara set her up with Metcalf right before prank-calling the R&B singer. âSheâs the one that did set me and my man up,â she tells Elle.
