Sacred Heart will defend its Northeast Conference tournament after it went on a 12-game winning streak to end the season over the past two months. The Pioneers only conference loss was to Le Moyne back on Jan. 15.Ā
Led by sophomore guard Ny’Ceara Pryor, Sacred Heart finished with the the conference’s No. 1 offense and defense this season. The Pioneers averaged 66.0 points per game and allowed 57.7 points.
The next-closest teams were Merrimack with 59.3 points per game on offense and Le Moyne with 60.8 points allowed on defense.
Pryor leads the conference with 18.5 points per game and 4.47 assists per game. She also shoots at the second-best rate in the NEC with a 46.9% shooting percentage.
Other key players to watch are Central Connecticut’s Samora Watson, Long Island’s Ashley Austin, Le Moyne’s Lytoya Baker and Fairleigh Dickinson’s Teneisia Brown.
Sacred Heart has four conference titles since 2006, but the Pioneers don’t hold a candle to St. Francis (PA)’s 12 NEC championships since 1996. Le Moyne, Central Connecticut and StoneHill have never won the conference tournament.

Each game will be played at the campus of the highest seed in each matchup. The playoffs will be reseeded after the quarterfinals.
