NPP Race: Lawyer Adusei whips ex-police COP Mensah ‘mercilessly’ in Bekwai primaries

The embattled former police officer implicated in the IGP leaked tape scandal, COP George Alex Mensah, has lost his bid to represent the NPP in the Bekwai Constituency.
The retired police officer, who had the support of First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu, polled 245 votes.
His closest contender, Ralph Opoku Adusei, won with 662 votes.
The other contestants, Henry Opoku Ware and Kingsley Opoku Agyemang, polled 30 and 1 vote, respectively.
The total votes cast was 938.
Meanwhile, voting has ended across the 104 constituencies, with counting ongoing.
The elections were organised in constituencies where the NPP has sitting Members of Parliament (MPs).
A total of 321 candidates are contending for tickets to represent the NPP in the 2024 parliamentary elections, with 33 of these candidates going unopposed.
