Alessandro Tonelli (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizane) won Stage 1 of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana despite getting tangled in a ribbon near the finish after taking a wrong turn. Manuele Tarozzi was with his team-mate and allowed him to cross the line first as they came in together.
