Hereâs What Happened To The Man Reportedly Run Over By A Train
According to WILX, Michigan firefighters from the city of Ann Arbor arrived at railroad tracks around 9:37 p.m. on Monday, August 26. The outlet adds that the officials reportedly discovered a 20-year-old man âpartially entangled in a train.â
Fox 2 Detroit has reported that the manâs hand was âcaught deep in between the wheel, axle, and part of the motor.â
Furthermore, the man, who has not been publicly identified, had reportedly fallen asleep on the railroad tracks âwhen a northbound freight train ran over him.â
However, the train was reportedly moving slow enough âto stop within a short distanceâ after running over the man.
Fox 2 Detroit notes that âAlcohol is believed to have been a factorâ in the incident.
Howâs The Man Doing After The Incident Involving The Ann Arbor Train?
According to WILX, extracting the manâs hand from the train was âextremely challenging,â firefighters reportedly explained.
The mission reportedly took 110 minutes.
âThere was limited access, and all of that is really significant metal, so a lot of our normal tools and techniques donât work for something that extraordinary,â Ann Arbor Fire Chief Mike Kennedy reportedly told Fox 2 Detroit.
A surgery team from the University of Michigan reportedly flew in to potentially amputate the manâs limb, the outlet notes. However, the use of a âhydraulic ramâ reportedly freed the man from the train.
The man was ultimately taken to U-M Hospital and âstabilized.â Furthermore, the outlet adds that the âonly major injuriesâ the man sustained âwere in his hand.â
Furthermore, the Ann Arbor Fire Department reportedly released a statement after the incident, per WILX.
âThis was a once in career incident for those involved. Normally, person versus train incidents are fatal. This was a true team effort,â the station stated.
According to Fox 2 Detroit, Chief Kennedy ultimately noted the manâs extreme luck.
âWe could replicate this exact scenario probably 1,000 times and not have the same outcome. He should buy some lotto tickets,â Kennedy stated. âSome higher power was looking out for him⊠we canât urge it enough â do not go on train tracks.â
The Man In Michigan Received Another Chance At Life While A Kentucky Man Allegedly Wanted To Fake His Death
While the life of the man in Michigan was spared, another man in Kentucky reportedly attempted to fake his own death in 2023. As The Shade Room previously reported, Jesse Kipf allegedly used the credentials of a physician to access the Hawaii Death Registry system in January of that year.
He reportedly filled out a âHawaii Death Certificate Worksheet,â certifying his death. From there, he allegedly registered as a âdeceased person in many government databases.â
Authorities noted that he reportedly did so âin part, to avoid his outstanding child support obligationsâ of more than $195,000.
Kipft was ultimately sentenced to prison time earlier this month.
