More Details On Trina’s Comments
According to HipHopDX, the 45-year-old sat down with the platform for an exclusive interview earlier this month. During the conversation, Trina explained that she loves seeing the new generation of female rappers enter the genre.

“I love it. I just love to see the girls — there’s so many new girls. It wasn’t that many girls when I started,” the rapper explained. “I always just wondered, like, the day is gonna come when it was gonna dominate with females as opposed to just guys. And now the girls are doing it. So that’s an amazing thing.

Trina explained that all of the female rappers “have their own style,” and now is the time for listeners to enjoy the diversity.

From there, the rapper was asked what she believes “opened the door” or sparked the rise of more female rappers.

“Yeah, Beyoncé. ‘Cause she is the No. 1 female rapper when she does rap… There’s no sleeping on the Queen,” the rapper continued. “It’s just one of those things like, of course, it’s the Queen, it’s Beyoncé, but when you hear her do a song and it’s rapping involved, it’s like, ‘Oh my God’ — it’s more inspiration… It’s just a good thing.”

Social Media Reacts
Social media users entered The Shade Room’s comment section to share their reactions to Trina’s stance. Many seemed to believe that Trina failed to credit fellow rapper Nicki Minaj for her influence on the rise of female rappers.

Instagram user @christine.elizabeth wrote.

“People will do everything except give Nicki Minaj her flowers. Sad.”

While Instagram user @yacousinvinnie added.

“It’s so obvious when these girls go out of their way to dismiss Nicki’s impact — she might as well said Michelle Obama”

Instagram user @raymnicia wrote.

“Just say Nicki turned down yet another feature. Ima need you to gone log out for me because baby this ain’t IT!!! & we all love BEYONCE but girl…”

While Instagram user @da_icequeen101 added.

“I’m confused. So not Roxanne, Latifah, YoYo, Sole, Kim, Foxy, Salt n Pepa?? I mean not Nicki? Shoot! Not you Trina? I’m confused.”

Instagram user @isaiah_heath wrote.

“Beyoncé better give her a feature for this one, because this was a Stretch Armstrong level of reaching😂”

On Thursday, December 28, Trina took to her Instagram Story to defend her comments about Beyoncé to those who disagree.

Additionally, the rapper also shared a longer message explaining her stance on her Instagram feed.

Trina Previously Defended Beyoncé Against Her Longtime Collaborator, Trick Daddy
In June 2021, the rapper’s longtime collaborator Trick Daddy went viral after sharing his opinion on Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z, per REVOLT.

“Beyoncé don’t write music and barely can sing her motherf*****g self,” the rapper reportedly said on Clubhouse’s audio app. “

Beyoncé is to R&B what JAY-Z is to New York. That’s why they together. JAY-Z ain’t never won the greatest rapper alive. Whoever put him on a level like that?”

In response, Trina quickly let it be known that her views on Beyoncé differ. The rapper posted a video of the singer on Instagram with a caption referring to her as the “Queen.”

“ALL day, Everyday… The Queen 👑🐝🧡,” the rapper wrote in the caption of her post.

Then, in 2022, Trina appeared on an episode of the ‘Drink Champs‘ podcast. She made it abruptly clear that she is a member of Beyoncé’s Bey-hive and even chastised Trick Daddy for her comments on the singer.

“Don’t speak on the queen, bro. I’m team queen… I’m the Bey-Hive. You don’t do that. And I didn’t speak to him for two or three weeks. We’re sitting next to each other, and I have my mic and chair turned this way, and I’m like this … ‘you need to apologize,” Trina recalled. “Everybody has an opinion, and that’s fine, but here you go. And you already know [how] I start my morning off, and it’s the queen [Beyoncé] everything. How dare you? Like keep your opinions to yourself, talk amongst your friends, but don’t publicly say anything about her. Like no, we not doing that.”
