Oscar Nominations 2024: How to Watch the Live Announcement

The supersized, post-strike award season continues. After weeks of hitting the campaign trail, the chosen few from this year’s batch of Oscar hopefuls will become official nominees when the nominations for the 96th Academy Awards are unveiled on Tuesday, January 23rd. You can watch the nominations announcement below:

The Joker’s Zazie Beetz and Oppenheimer’s Jack Quaid will announce the nominees live from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles on January 23rd at 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT. They’ll reveal names in all 23 categories in two batches—kicking off with the first group, which includes supporting actor, supporting actress, and screenplay, and following with the second group approximately 10 minutes later, which will feature best director and best picture.

For those willing to wake up bright and early to see who will forever have “Academy Award nominee” tacked on to the front of their name, there are multiple options for viewing the festivities. You can watch the nominations via global livestream on Oscar.com, Oscars.org, as well as the Academy’s digital platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook). For those less savvy with social media, you can tune into the nominations via national broadcast and streaming news programs, including ABC’s Good Morning America, ABC News Live, and Disney+.

The 96th Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theater on Sunday, March 10th at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT and air on ABC. Jimmy Kimmel is returning to host the ceremony for the second time in a row and for his fourth time emceeing Hollywood’s biggest night. Last year, A24’s Everything Everywhere All At Once dominated the evening, sweeping the night with wins in best supporting actress, best supporting actor, best actress, best original screenplay, best director and best picture.

Although it’s just a day away, many burning questions still remain regarding the Oscar race. Will Barbie or Oppenheimer prove more dominant after nominations are announced? Who will ultimately crack the chaotic best supporting actor and best supporting actress races? Could Saltburn shimmy its way into a best picture berth? All will be revealed Tuesday at 8:30 AM. Whatever happens, remember, it’s an honor just to be nominated.
