If you’re looking for new Lego sets to build, you might have more trouble figuring out which one to build first than picking one out you’re interested in. Over 100 new Lego sets from many of the manufacturer’s most popular franchise collaborations released this week, making August arguably the biggest month of 2024 for Lego enthusiasts. The wide variety of new releases includes building kits inspired by entertainment juggernauts such as Star Wars, Marvel, Batman, and Jurassic World. Lego’s gaming-inspired lines have also expanded, with fresh releases in the Super Mario, Animal Crossing, Minecraft, and Sonic the Hedgehog collections. To help you sort through the massive lineup of Lego new releases, we’ve put together a list of the biggest new Lego sets of the month, organized by franchise.

Unless otherwise noted, all of the links below will take you to Amazon listings. Most of the sets highlighted below are brand-new releases, but there are some former Lego Store exclusives that launched at Amazon and other major retailers this week. We’ve also included a handful of sets within these franchises that went up for preorder this month, including the highly anticipated kit based on Super Mario World and the Shadow the Hedgehog display set. That said, the vast majority of the sets below are available to ship right now and are eligible for Prime shipping at Amazon.

Lego Super MarioStarting with the new Super Mario releases, Lego has refreshed its core interactive adventure sets featuring Mario, Luigi, and Peach. These starter sets are required if you want to utilize the many expansions as playsets. Each starter set now costs $10 less than before and come with more notable minifigures than the original lineup.

There are some exciting new expansion sets, too. Most notably, there’s the 932-piece King Boo’s Haunted Mansion and The Bowser Express Train, which is the biggest Lego Mario expansion yet at 1,392 pieces. And while it’s not launching this month, you can also preorder the moving Mario & Yoshi figure that’s based on the duo’s pixel art sprite from Super Mario World on SNES. Check out even more new Lego Super Mario sets below.

Lego Star Wars setsLego’s Star Wars line has stuck closely to established characters, vehicles, and scenes from canonical Star Wars media, but this month sees the company get more creative with the galaxy far, far away. There’s a new set that reimagines the Millenium Falcon as the “Dark Falcon” piloted by a crew of alternate universe versions of characters like Sith Lord Jar Jar Binks and bounty hunter C-3PO. You can also grab an X-Wing-themed mech piloted by Luke Skywalker.

There’s plenty of traditional sets you’re looking for something more canonical, including new versions of the Imperial Star Destroyer, TIE Intercepter from the Ultimate Collector Series, and an X-Wing versus TIE Fighter set, among several others. There are even new releases based on Disney+ shows like The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and the upcoming Skeleton Crew. Check the links below for more.
