Paris Olympics 2024 Day 10 Highlights: An injured Nisha Dahiya was left in tears after losing her women’s freestyle wrestling 68kg quarter-final match. The wrestler looked to be in intense pain for almost half of the bout, with her hand heavily strapped. She was given pain-relief sprays but it did not ease the problem. Avinash Sable has qualified for the final of men’s 3000m steeplechase final. Earlier, shuttler Lakshya Sen lost his bronze medal playoff match in the men’s badminton singles while Indian shooters Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan too lost to China in the bronze medal play-off in skeet mixed team event. India’s women’s table tennis team beat Romania 3-2 to make a historic entry into the quarter-finals. In women’s 400m Round 1, Kiran Pahal finished 7th in heat 5. Noah Lyles, fresh from winning Olympic 100m gold, cruised his 200m heat at the Stade de France on Monday to keep his bid for a sprint treble alive.
Lyles, who won the 100m in a photo-finish from Jamaican Kishane Thompson in 9.79 seconds, topped his 200m heat in 20.19sec.

Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen said he “felt like the king of the court” after retaining his Olympic badminton title in front of his country’s monarch in Paris on Monday. Backed by a vocal crowd at La Chapelle Arena and watched by Denmark’s King Frederik X, Axelsen demolished world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand 21-11, 21-11 in 52 minutes. The lanky Dane became the first man to retain his Olympic men’s singles title since Chinese great Lin Dan, who won in 2008 and 2012.

Avinash Sable created history by becoming the first Indian man to qualify for the men’s 3000m steeplechase final at the Paris Olympics here on Monday. Sable finished fifth in his heat with a timing of 8:15.43 minutes to qualify among the top 15 in the event. In steeplechase, there are three heats and the top five from each heat qualify for the final. Sable’s heat was won by Moroccan Mohamed Tindouft with personal best timing of 8:10.62 minutes

The Indian pair was placed tied second with a score of 49 after the first stage in the qualification, sharing the position with Australia, Korea, France and two Italian teams.
Anant Jeet Singh Naruka scored 25/25 in the first round the qualification while Maheshwari Chauhan shot 24/25 to take India’s total to 49.
In the second round, it was Maheshwari’s turn to shoot a perfect 25 but Naruka missed two shots each in the 2nd and 5th series to tally 23, which gave them an aggregate score of 48.
In the third round, India got 49 with 25 for Maheshwari and 24 for Naruka.Â
