‘People didn’t know who I was’… Mark Zuckerberg’s secret fight story has Joe Rogan cracking up
Rolling up to your local Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament and being submitted by an undercover billionaire-oligarch is something you’d tell your kids to the very end.
Such was the case with one unfortunate individual who unknowingly rolled with Mark Zuckerberg and found out the hard way.
Bottomless pockets and plenty of free time mean Zuckerberg is somewhat of a grappling savant, and he told Joe Rogan he took part in a BJJ tournament not too long ago.
The only twist: Zuckerberg entered the tournament incognito, with a Mission-Impossible style disguise.

“I registered under my first and middle name, so people didn’t know who I was,” Zuckerberg revealed. “I had like, sunglasses and a hat and I wore a COVID mask. … It wasn’t until they called our names to step on the mat that I took all the stuff off and they were like, ‘Huh?!’”
Zuckerberg submitted his opponent, who according to the Meta CEO, was completely befuddled with the whole situation. Rogan couldn’t contain his laughter.
“[…] Afterwards [the opponent] was like, ‘I think that was Mark Zuckerberg who just submitted me.’ … [And the coach was like] ‘What?! You’re fighting Mark Zuckerberg, get back in there! Go fight him!’ It’s like, ‘No, he just submitted me.’”
As for Zuckerberg’s MMA debut, he is focusing on Meta’s collaboration with Dana White, and other business needs, before thinking of stepping into the cage.
Mark Zuckerberg has won tournaments beforeBack in May 2023, Zuckerberg won the no-gi whitebelt 149 lbs. division tournament at the BJJ Tour Silicon Valley. He was one of two competitors in the bracket so they fought three times to decide. He also won silver in a gi competition that same day.
Zuckerberg trains grappling with esteemed coach Dave Camarillo, and has trained alongside UFC greats like Max Holloway and Israel Adesanya. ‘Zuck’ was slated to fight Elon Musk in a billionaire showdown in 2024, and Dana White revealed he was in legitimate negotiations to host Musk-Zuckerberg at the Rome Colosseum.
