People of Note Makes Pop Music an RPG Combat Mechanic on PS5

Sounds good

Annapurna Interactive has teamed up with Iridium Studios to bring music-themed RPG People of Note to the masses.

Due out in 2026, the game will follow pop singer Cadence, who realises going solo may not be enough for her to achieve stardom.

Naturally, she’ll fill out her band with a bunch of eclectic musicians, each bringing their own influences to her act.

Oh, and this just so happens to be an RPG, so those musical numbers – well, they’re the basis of the game’s turn-based battle system.

The blurb reveals:

“In People of Note, experience turn-based combat like never before: each battle is an interactive musical performance with evolving combat conditions, real-time rhythm-based attacks, and genre-bending mashup attacks!”

As mentioned, the gameplay will have a pinch of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, as timing your attacks will unleash additional damage.

In addition to combat, you’ll also be tasked with exploring the city of Note, where you’ll encounter all kinds of environmental puzzles.

But don’t worry if certain gameplay aspects we’ve described don’t appeal to you – the experience is entirely customisable, so you can toggle off any elements you don’t like.

You can check out a trailer above for a taste of what to expect.
