Performance Predictions: Strava adds race time prediction feature for subscribers
Strava has launched a new tool that offers personalised finish time estimates for runners targeting popular distances.
Available to subscribers in the Progress tab of the Strava app, the Performance Predictions feature estimates finish times for 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon distances. Strava notes that the new feature uses a machine learning model that draws on more than 100 data points and comparisons to similar athletes.
The feature updates automatically after each run and adjusts during rest periods, aiming to give subscribers a clearer sense of their current fitness and race-day readiness.
According to Strava, the tool is designed to help runners train more efficiently by aligning pace targets with recent activity data. It builds on a suite of features aimed at performance tracking and training insight.
In 2024, nearly 1 billion runs were reportedly uploaded to Strava, which the company said reinforces its position as a training platform for runners worldwide.
