Philippe Clement admits he is ‘in love with Rangers’ as he signs new contract

Rangers boss Philippe Clement admits he has “fallen in love” with the Scottish club after putting pen to paper on a new contract.

Rangers boss Philippe Clement has admitted he has “fallen in love with the club” after he signed a new contract extension.
The former Monaco head coach took over the reins at Ibrox in October last year signing an initial contract until 2027.

After leading Rangers to the Scottish League Cup, Clement is now leading an overhaul of the squad ahead of his first full season in charge.

Clement is seemingly ready to stay with Rangers for the long haul, having agreed a new bumper contract to keep him at Ibrox until 2028.

Our journey together continues. It’s an honor and privilege to extend my contract with this beautiful legendary club. Let’s keep building, together. šŸ”“āšŖšŸ”µ @RangersFC pic.twitter.com/oaJ5IPObbF

Clement explains why he has signed a new contract
The Belgian has admitted that he has “fallen in love” with Rangers since replacing Michael Beale in the dugout last year.

“I have a really open and transparent relationship with the board,” Clement told the Rangers website. “In every meeting that we have had you feel the passion and desire to make the club better and that is the same for me.

“I have fallen in love with the club, with the fans, the stadium and with the city. I see huge potential and now we need to make the club better and stronger in every department, that is our goal, and we are all really aligned about that.”

Rangers have announced the contract on the eve of the new Sottish Premiership season after originally agreeing the deal at the end of last term.

Clement leading squad rebuild
Clement and Rangers’ Director of Football Recruitment Nils Koppen have made considerable changes to the squad ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

They have seen several players leave the club over the course of the summer, including Connor Goldson, Jon McLaughlin, Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe, Borna Barisic, John Lundstram and Sam Lammers.

While there have been a number of departures, Rangers have strengthened their squad with the additions of Liam Kelly, Clinton Nsiala, Jefte, Hamza Igamane, Mohammed Diomande, Robin Propper, Connor Barron and Vaclav Cerny.

Rangers will get their Scottish Premiership campaign underway when they travel to Tynecastle for Saturday’s clash with Hearts.
