Colorado coach Deion Sanders shared a photo of son Shilo after the Buffs safety had surgery to repair a forearm injury.

Shilo left Colorado’s 28-10 loss to Nebraska in the first half and eventually returned to the sideline with his right arm in a sling. Deion said on the NBC broadcast he thought the forearm was broken.
The full extent of the injury remains unclear, but it’s safe to assume Shilo will miss a chunk of the season and perhaps the entirety of it.
The 6’0″ defensive back, who initially started his college career at South Carolina, was among the players who followed his father to Boulder from Jackson State. In 2023, he was first on the team in tackles (69) and intercepted one pass while forcing four fumbles.
Losing Sanders is a big blow for a Buffs defense that struggled last year and hasn’t improved much through two games. The unit is tied for 95th in passing yards allowed (238.5 per game) and 118th in opponent passer rating (160.1).
