Every year, a new generation of athletes enters the collegiate ranks, and many of those players are sons of college football legends.

This season, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders highlight the list of legacy players and join even rarer air by playing for their legendary father Deion, head coach of Colorado.

Some other notable players on this year’s list include Kennedy Urlacher, safety for Notre Dame and son of New Mexico legend Brian Urlacher, Antonio Gates Jr., the son of legendary tight end Antonio Gates and EJ Smith, who will play running back like his father, Emmitt Smith.

Those players are just a few of this year’s list of legacy players:

The Sanders family is looking to have a big year after a disappointing first season with the Buffaloes. Colorado had a promising 3-0 start to the 2023 season, but finished the year 4-8.

The Buffs reloaded through the transfer portal and things certainly seem like they could turn around this year, but Colorado will need a big year from Shedeur under center. Shedeur had an impressive 2023 season with 3,230 passing yards and 27 touchdowns while throwing just three interceptions, and the Buffaloes are expecting more of the same this year.

Shilo also had a solid year on defense, recording 54 tackles, three pass deflections, four forced fumbles and an interception.

Colorado begins its quest for a bounce-back year on Thursday against North Dakota State.
