Pittman’s Pocket: National Signing Day has arrived for HBCU football programs!

It’s Wednesday, and National Signing Day has arrived for HBCUs in the Class of 2025. Let’s take a look at the signings and the impact they’ll have!

Alcorn State: Alcorn was able to land a very solid prospect out of Natchez Mississippi.

Jakel Irving, a 3-star recruit with a composite score of .85, out of Natchez, MS (Natchez High School).

Delaware State: Coach D Jack landed two 3-star athletes:

Jadyn Robinson (Junipero Serra, Gardena, CA) – 5’9″, 160 lbs, composite score of .85

Blake Brown (East St. Louis, East Saint Louis, IL) – 6’3″, 310 lbs, composite score of .82

Jackson State: Coach TC Taylor secured four 3-star players:

Jabari Jones (Langston Hughes, Fairburn, GA)

Kale Armstrong (Houston, Houston, MS)

Kam Evans (West Lowndes, Columbus, MS)

Amarion Brown (Yazoo City, Yazoo City, MS)

Howard University: The Bison made a splash this recruiting season with a strong haul, adding five 3-star recruits and one 2-star athlete to their roster:

Xavier Newsom (Martin Luther King, Detroit, MI) – 6’5″, 220 lbs

Phoenix-Orion Dicosmo (Bergen Catholic, Oradell, NJ) – 6’5″, 220 lbs

Terrell Russell (Carver, Montgomery, AL) – 6’0″, 170 lbs

Eric Slater (Roseville, Roseville, MI) – 6’2″, 185 lbs

David Parks (Seminole, Sanford, FL) – 6’1″, 205 lbs. (QB)

Grambling State: Coach Joseph secured two 3-star athletes:

Mekhi Mixon (East St. Louis, East Saint Louis, IL) – 5’11”, 190 lbs

Kesean Hines (Wossman, Monroe, LA) – 6’0″, 220 lbs.

Morgan State: Coach Wilson is excited to bring in a very solid prospect in Donta Jenkins.

Donta Jenkins (Lakeland, FL) – 6’2.5″, 215 lbs. Rumor has it, he could make a big impact early next season.

Tennessee State: Eddie George and the Tigers are continuing to build a strong program, bringing in three 3-star recruits:

Jayden Guy (Blackman, Murfreesboro, TN) – 6’0″, 165 lbs

Chase Sutton (St. George’s Independent School, Collierville, TN) – 6’0″, 160 lbs

Parker Harden (Pickerington Central, Pickerington, OH) – 6’5″, 315 lbs.

Looking forward to seeing these young men represent on the field and possibly make it to the 4th Annual Pittman’s Pocket HBCU True Freshman All-American team in the future.
