Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Atlanta Falcons Week 1 Odds, Time, and Prediction

The Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Atlanta Falcons Week 1 is the game in which both teams will premiere their new quarterbacks. The hosts will see Kirk Cousins make his Falcons debut in front of nearly 80,000 fans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

The visitors will probably put Russell Wilson in the starting QB position. We say “probably” because they also have Justin Fields as one of the possible options.

Pittsburgh Steelers Eager to Start the New Season
The Pittsburgh Steelers have every right to hope for a good season. Last year, they went 10-7, finishing third in what’s arguably the hardest division in the NFL. This year, however, they seem capable of challenging for the divisional title.

As always, their defense looks incredible. With players like T.J. Watt, Joey Porter Jr, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Miles Killebrew, and others, the Steelers’ defensive team truly is a powerful force.

In 2024, their offense looks great as well. Coach Mike Tomlin now has two elite quarterbacks to choose from – Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. He’ll probably go with Wilson for Week 1, which will probably work out for him.

He’s a Swiss army knife of a player, so expect the Steelers to do better in all aspects of offensive play. We think Wilson is the kind of a QB who can help wide receivers up their game, this is why we feel very bullish about George Pickens and Van Jefferson.

Can Kirk Cousins Turn the Atlanta Falcons Into World-Beaters?
Kirk Cousins is one of the best quarterbacks of his generation and his move to Atlanta will almost certainly have a good impact on the Falcons. This team went 7-10 last season, which is kind of okay even though they failed to make the playoffs.

In 2024, they want to do better, and with Cousins, they might be able to pull it off. He’s an elite quarterback who’s got some elite guards to protect him (e.g., Chris Lindstrom). Cousins also has some decent options to throw the ball to.

Kyle Pitts is an elite tight end, while Drake London is a pretty good wide receiver who looks ready to step up now that Van Jefferson has switched his allegiance to Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Atlanta Falcons Prediction
Both teams have new QBs, as well as many other new players. They even have new head coaches. That said, it’s hard to predict how they will adjust to changes, especially in Week 1. But we’re going to share our Steelers vs. Falcons prediction with you anyway.

We predict that the underdogs are going to shock the oddsmakers. We think that the Steelers have what it takes to ruin Cousin’s Falcons debut.

Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers
