Newsbrief: Pokemon Legends Z-A has sold 5.8 million units worldwide during its first week on shelves.Â
The Pokemon Company confirmed the news in a brief press release (via Google Translate) and explained almost half of those copies were played on Switch 2. The sales milestone also includes digital copies.
Pokemon Legends Z-A launched on October 16, 2025, and sought to evolve the long-running franchise with the introduction of series-first mechanics such as real-time Pokemon battles.
The Switch 2 edition of the title is backwards compatible with the original Switch, meaning consumers can purchase that version even if they haven’t nabbed Nintendo’s next-generation console. Similarly, the Switch version of the game can be played on the Switch 2.
