Police board plane after it lands at Manchester Airport and arrest man

A man was arrested on suspicion of drugs offences just after landing at Manchester Airport. Officers boarded the plane from Amsterdam just after it had touched down and come to a stop on the tarmac.

He was detained by officers from Greater Manchester Police’s Central Challenger organised crime team investigating alleged ‘county lines’ drug dealing between Lancashire and Manchester.

The man, whose age and address have not been disclosed, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply cocaine and cannabis. He is currently in custody for questioning.

In a post on their Facebook page in the early hours of Friday morning, GMP’s Longsight and Moss Side policing team, shared a picture of the man being led away.

Alongside the image, they said: “This evening officers from the City of Manchester Central Challenger organised crime team, along with officers from Manchester airport, arrested an adult male on suspicion of being involved in a conspiracy to supply class A and B drugs.

“The man had just returned from a trip to Amsterdam and as the plane touched down, officers boarded and took him into custody. The arrest is part of an investigation into county lines offending, between Lancashire and Manchester.

“Officers believe the male to be involved in supplying cocaine and cannabis in the City of Manchester.

“The male is currently being held in police custody and will be dealt with by detectives from the Challenger team in the morning.”
