Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Gets A Manthey Makeover

The Porsche 911 GT3 Touring is meant to be a more road-biased version of the standard car, although really, the only major difference is the lack of a fixed rear wing. What if you want the cleaner look with a more aggressive aero setup?

As is often the case, the solution comes from Nürburgring-based Porsche specialists, Manthey Racing. The outfit has long been producing upgrade kits for those who find that Weissach’s standard GT department products aren’t quite hardcore enough, and the 992 Touring is the latest car to get the treatment.

To maintain the more restrained visuals of the Touring pack, this upgrade focuses on underbody aero, including a new front lip, underside air guide elements, and a more aggressive carbon fibre rear diffuser.

Elsewhere, it gets four-way adjustable coilover suspension and an optional set of lightweight wheels which save a total of 7.3kg of unsprung weight. Manthey can also fit its signature carbon aerodiscs to the rear wheels, which both improve downforce and look unbelievably cool. High-performance brake pads and uprated steel-coated brake lines are intended to increase braking strength and longevity.

Finally, a suite of visual upgrades includes stickers and illuminated door sills and projectors. Oh, and Manthey can fit it with fabric towing loops and the front and back, just in case you manage to overwhelm the suite of other track-focused improvements and wind up on a viral Nürburgring fails compilation.

The Manthey kit does beg the question of why you’d buy the less aggressive Touring in the first place if track performance is a priority, but as Porsche itself has shown with the S/T, the demand for a harder-cored 911 with less aggressive looks is quite clearly there. It won’t surprise us one bit if Manthey’s kit is just as popular.
