Prince Harry Thinks It’d Be “Cool” to Be a Quarterback (A Canadian One)
On Sunday, Prince Harry appeared on Canada’s TSN network to promote the upcoming Invictus Games 2025, which are set to take place in Vancouver and Whistler this February. During his sideline appearance during Grey Cup championship between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Toronto Argonauts, he explained why the games for wounded servicemembers have continued to thrive more than a decade after he helped to found it.
“It’s our 10-year anniversary this year, which is pretty exciting. The Invictus Movement started back in 2014, and it’s a sporting platform used for the rehabilitation and support for wounded soldiers—both serving and veterans,” he explained. “It’s really an opportunity for the individuals themselves and their families to heal and rehabilitate through sport.”
For the segment, he was joined by Wenshuang Nie, a competitor in the Games, who discussed her own experiences with PTSD following her service.
Harry declined to make a prediction for Sunday’s game, but said he was looking forward to returning to Canada. “This time in less than three months we’ll be back for the opening ceremony in February,” he said. He also discussed his fondness for North American football, and mentioned what position he would play if he were drafted into the Canadian Football League. “I think quarterback is a cool place to be.”
Coincidentally, his choice for that position is something he has in common with his brother, Prince William. Last month, William attended a skills clinic for teenagers with the UK branch of the National Football League, where he showed off his skills with a football and took a lesson in throwing it like a quarterback would.
