While WWE fans are still recovering from the wild action and moments of SummerSlam, Bash in Berlin is up next for the top talent in the business.

Gunther will defend the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time in Germany, the country where he learned professional wrestling. But Randy Orton will be a tough test for The Ring General.

Cody Rhodes must reckon with a conflicted Kevin Owens, who has been known to turn on his friends during his WWE career.

CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will continue their rivalry in what is certain to be a brutal Strap Match.

Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest will team together against Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio, seeking revenge for months of scheming that cost them their gold.

Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill will be hoping to regain the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships from Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre.

This show promises surprises, including several potential face or heel turns. The following are the most likely to come at Bash in Berlin.

Heel: Kevin Owens1 of 4

WWE could not have telegraphed a heel turn for Kevin Owens more in recent weeks. Grayson Waller even told Cody Rhodes that it is a foregone conclusion on last Friday’s SmackDown.

It’s easy to understand why. KO is renowned for his memorable heel turns. From Sami Zayn to Kofi Kingston, many have felt the sting of his betrayal. He has been a bad guy for much of his wrestling career.

If anyone was going to turn heel in Berlin on Saturday, the most obvious answer would be The Prizefighter…but perhaps that’s why it won’t happen.

Usually, turns of this nature are more unexpected. It is better for Owens as a character to show he can overcome the inclination to go bad, staying a good man in defeat.

If The American Nightmare was not so well-established as the company’s top babyface, this story would actually land better with a Rhodes turn. It’s not time for that yet, though.

However, it’s always a possibility that Owens will turn on his friends. Eventually, it will happen again.

Heel: Randy Orton2 of 4

Randy Orton can never truly be trusted, much like Kevin Owens. Perhaps after all the teases from KO, it could be his tag team partner who has a dramatic villainous moment.

The Viper is as popular as he has ever been, but he is going to be fighting one of the most successful professional wrestlers to come out of the German independent scene.

It will be interesting to watch how the Uber Arena crowd reacts throughout this match. For the long term, though, how will Orton handle losing again?

If The Viper cannot beat Gunther, he may just turn against Cody Rhodes to get another world title shot, starting a long-awaited feud that will define the rest of the year.

Heel: Bianca Belair3 of 4

In this new era of WWE, no one has struggled more to find their footing than Bianca Belair, who almost feels like an after-thought despite completing the longest women’s championship reign in history in 2023.

Her tag team with Jade Cargill is fun enough but has not allowed The EST of WWE to shine in the main event title picture.

This is particularly because of the company’s struggle to push the women’s tag team division. While she and The Storm could reign at its summit, it won’t elevate either woman beyond their current status.

However, if Belair and Cargill cannot beat Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre, it could push The EST to turn on her partner and set up a feud that will bring both women to prominence.

It’s a great storyline for the right time. This may not quite be that time, but WWE cannot wait too much longer without Belair losing her main event aura.

Face: Damage CTRL4 of 4

Damage CTRL has slowly transitioned to a face role on Raw in the ongoing fight for top spot in the women’s tag team division.

Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane are the last two standing in the group after injuries to Dakota Kai and Asuka, but it feels more popular now than it ever has been.

What would solidify the slow face turn of Damage CTRL would be standing up to Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre in Germany as a surprise. The crowd pop alone would make the group clear fan favorites for years to come.

While the women’s tag division is hardly at the top of WWE’s priorities, Damage CTRL vs. The Unholy Union could be the right story to elevate it for the long term.
