Quavo Launches Sparks Grant Initiative To Support Gun Violence Regulation In Honor Of Takeoff

Quavo is keeping Takeoff’s name and legacy alive with a new initiative to control and combat gun violence in Atlanta.

On Wednesday (Mar. 20), Qua launched the Sparks Grants Initiative, which will grant 10 organizations with $10,000 each to support their programs that are focusing on gun violence and regulation, Billboard reports.

“I am honored to launch this grant program to honor Take and the countless families that have been affected by gun violence,” the “Himothy” rapper stated. “The Rocket Foundation will be giving out $100,000 in Spark grants to local organizations dedicated to reducing community violence in Atlanta. There is a lot of important work going on in ATL right now, and part of our mission is to uplift these organizations and support them to help save more lives.”

Applications are still being accepted for Quavo’s Sparks Grants Initiative up until April 21. Organizations can apply here.

TakeOff, née Kirsnick Khari Ball, was shot and killed outside 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley in Houston on November 1, 2022, after an argument following a heated dice game. He was buried two weeks later in Atlanta with a heavily-attended funeral service including fans, family, and friends.

Following the passing of Take, Quavo expressed to his fans, “I miss him a lot and I love him. He know I love him. That’s what we always know. So when you see me and you see me smiling or something like that, you don’t gotta never think I forgot about him or I’ll forget about him. I think about him all the time. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep. And that’s it.”

Quavo also expressed to VIBE in 2023 that he was working on a posthumous album for the slain rapper.

“The next project I’m going to be working on is the Rocket’s. You know what I’m saying? Takeoff,” he revealed without a timeline. “I’m gathering a whole bunch of information, gathering a lot of producers, gathering a lot of my friends, a lot of the artists. And we’re going to make this album one of the craziest albums of all time.”

“So my next mission is to get a Takeoff’s album together.”
