Radu Dragusin snubs Bayern Munich to join Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of signing Radu Dragusin from Genoa after he decided against a move to Bayern Munich, according to multiple reports from across Europe.

Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou has long been vocal about his desire to bring in a new centre-back during the January transfer window, and he looks set to get his wish with the arrival of Dragusin.

Bayern had emerged as Tottenham’s top rival for the 21-year-old in recent days after both sides sent offers to Genoa.

Dragusin was expected to confirm his decision on Wednesday, and various reports – the first coming from Sky Sports Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio – claim he has chosen to join Tottenham instead of Bayern.

The German champions are said to have been confident about their chances of signing Dragusin after submitting their formal offer on Tuesday, but Fabrizio Romano claims Spurs then submitted a fresh bid of their own overnight.

The Romania international will now fly to London to undergo a medical. If his signing is approved in time, Dragusin could make his Tottenham debut on Sunday when they travel to Manchester United.

As part of a package that is worth in excess of €30m, Tottenham have agreed to send Djed Spence to Genoa on loan. Spence’s season-long loan at Leeds United was recently terminated by the Championship side and he has been training with Spurs’ Under-21s since returning to north London.

Ironically, Bayern’s search for a centre-back this month could see them do direct business with Tottenham after agreeing personal terms with Eric Dier over a potential move to the Allianz Arena.

Meanwhile, Tottenham announced the initial loan signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig subject to international clearance on Tuesday evening.
