Rainbow Six Operator Aruni Banned During R6 Munich Major Over Bizarre Damage Bug

The Rainbow Six Siege BLAST Munich Major is well underway, but almost halfway through the competition, one of the strongest defensive Operators in the game – Aruni – has been banned completely.

The BLAST R6 Major kicked off on November 8, with the Swiss Group Stage almost completed at the time of writing, and Aruni having made an impact in several matches.

However, due to a somewhat inconsistent bug with the Operator, developers Ubisoft have decided to take her out of play entirely for the remaining matches and the Playoffs stage of the tournament.

Aruni Banned at BLAST R6 Munich Major

In a statement posted on November 10, the Rainbow Six esports team explained the decision.

ā€œStarting from Friday [November 14], Aruni will be placed under temporary competitive quarantine for the duration of the BLAST R6 Munich Major, until further notice. This decision allows us to maintain a balanced and competitive environment throughout the remainder of the event.ā€

A number of fans were unaware of what the issue with Aruni could be, but it was cleared up quite quickly: Aruni’s gates sometimes damage both friendlies and enemies that are way out of range of its usual area.

Aruni’s laser gates are typically used to hold off doorways or entryways to a site, dealing damage to players that go through them, but instead they’re actually hurting teammates, dealing damage in the prep phase, or damaging opponents from outside its permitted radius.

there’s a bug where Aruni gates are incorrectly damaging friendlies and enemies way out of range.

When Will Aruni be Fixed in R6?

Obviously, it’s an issue that needs to be fixed, but something like this can’t be easily hotfixed mid-tournament, so the temporary ban was deemed the next best thing.

Some players don’t agree with the decision, though, with G2’s Jack ā€œDokiā€ Robertson calling it ā€œridiculousā€ and asking to at least wait for Playoffs. As one of the best Rainbow Six Siege Operators, it’s not hard to see why players are so up in arms about this decision.

It’s unclear when a fix could come for Aruni, but it would be an incredible turnaround if they managed to get it done before playoffs. It’s more likely that a true fix for the Operator will come in a later update.
