Marcus Rashford is in esteemed company, following his goal against Southampton on Saturday.

Our no.10 ended his personal drought by scoring our second at St Mary’s Stadium, as United recovered from the setback of conceding an early penalty to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

In opening his account for 2024/25, Rashford has now scored in 10 separate Premier League seasons, a mark only achieved by four other Reds, according to our research.

Rashford, of course, wasted no time in acclimatising to the top-flight, scoring twice in the first half of his league debut against Arsenal in February 2016.

The teenage tyro added a further three goals before the season was out and matched that tally of five the following term, before hitting eight as we finished second in the Premier League in 2017/18.

Developing all the time as a forward, Rashy then recorded double figures across each of the next three campaigns, with the 17 he scored during 2019/20, under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, establishing a new personal best.

An injury-hit 2021/22 season – Marcus registered four goals in 25 games – was soon forgotten as he again struck 17, in the first year of Erik ten Hag’s tenure.

Seven goals followed in 2023/24 and Rashford, who is still only 26 years old, turned the leaf on a 10th scoring campaign on Saturday.

So, who are the other four players to have demonstrated such goalscoring consistency over the years?

Ryan Giggs is the standard bearer, making it on to the scoresheet in each of the first 21 Premier League seasons, before falling short in his final year – he was 40 by then, to be fair!

Giggsy’s record is even more impressive when you consider he also netted in the 1990/91 and 1991/92 editions of the First Division, before the league was rebranded.

In Premier League terms, Paul Scholes is two behind his erstwhile team-mate, although there are no goalless seasons on his record, as he found the net in each of his 19 campaigns, including the two that came after his initial 2011 retirement.

Our all-time leading scorer Wayne Rooney is unsurprisingly a member of this club and he is one of only three players to have scored 10+ goals across 10+ seasons. Alan Shearer and Frank Lampard are the others, if you were wondering.

The fourth member is perhaps a little more surprising, considering his position on the field, but Roy Keane weighed in with at least a goal in 11 of his 13 top-flight seasons with United – the exceptions being an injury-affected 2002/03 and 2005/06, when he left the club in November.

Of course, top-level English football didn’t begin with the Premier League and several of our players also achieved the feat prior to 1992.

We think that the below is an exhaustive list, dating back to our First Division debut in 1892…

Ryan Giggs (23)

Paul Scholes (19)

Bobby Charlton (17)

Bryan Robson (13)

Wayne Rooney (13)

George Best (11)

Roy Keane (11)

Denis Law (11)

Mark Hughes (10)

Lou Macari (10)

Marcus Rashford (10)

Jack Rowley (10)

Dennis Viollet (10)
