Minnesota Vikings linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. returned from a four-week-long injury last weekend, just in time for his team to defeat the Green Bay Packers at U.S. Bank Stadium.

To make room for Pace Jr., Minnesota waived veteran linebacker Jamin Davis. And it only took a couple of days for Davis to land on his feet. He’ll be a New York Jet in Week 18.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini tweeted Monday, “The Jets also claimed former Vikings LB Jamin Davis, a 2021 first-round pick by Washington. To make room, they waived K Anders Carlson and placed S Chuck Clark on IR.”

Davis has participated in nine games for the Commanders and Vikings this season, tabulating 18 total tackles, including a sack, on 107 defensive snaps. He’ll join this Jets off-ball linebacking corps:

It’s worth noting that the Jets were eliminated from postseason contention weeks ago, so Davis and his teammates will play for pride this weekend against the Miami Dolphins.

The Commanders pulled Davis from Round 1 of the 2021 NFL Draft — the same night that the Vikings scooped left tackle Christian Darrisaw from Virginia Tech — but the 26-year-old experienced a failure to launch in the nation’s capital, at least by a 1st-Rounder’s standards. He’s played in 54 career games while starting 36 and has banked 287 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hits, and 8 sacks.

Davis’ skill set is somewhat similar to Pace Jr.’s — he’s at his best rushing the passer and helping to stuff the run, but his pass coverage is suspect.
