Relish The Thrill of Victory

Foul Tarnished, do you still seek the rush of triumph over those who once stood against you? Do you still crave the thrill of battle and wish to refight these formidable foes despite having bested them before?

Itā€™s a curious thing, indeed, that defeating them once isnā€™t enough to satiate your hunger for victory. Very well, then, let me guide you to some of the best ways to revisit these epic battles without having to relive the entire tale.

The main attraction of any Soulsborne game is its iconic boss battles, and Elden Ring is no exception, boasting over 100 unforgettable encounters.

Unlike Sekiroā€™s boss memory replay or Dark Souls 2ā€™s Bonfire Ascetic, FromSoft has never offered a built-in option to refight bosses at will. While FromSoftware has experimented with replayable boss fights in the past, and other games like Hollow Knight have successfully implemented this feature, Elden Ring and its DLC surprisingly lack this option.

Currently, players can only rematch bosses in Elden Ring through New Game+ or by joining another playerā€™s world. Fortunately, the modding community has stepped in to fill this gap, offering various mods that enable players to hone their skills against their favorite bosses as many times as they desire. Some of them are Boss Rematch Mod, Boss Ressurection Mod, Boss Arena Mod, and Boss Rush Mod.

2. Best Mods to Replay Boss Battles in Elden Ring

This list highlights the best mods to refight Elden Ringā€™s bosses without having to replay the entire story multiple times.

5. Boss Rush Mod

The Boss Rush mod offers a unique twist on traditional boss rematches, presenting players with a series of challenges that push their skills to the limit. Each challenge consists of a gauntlet of consecutive boss battles, requiring players to defeat multiple bosses in a row to succeed.

These carefully crafted challenges provide a fresh and exciting way for seasoned Elden Ring players to test their abilities against the gameā€™s most formidable foes. To access these challenges, players simply need to visit Queen Mask Leia at the Roundtable Hold, near the Colosseum statue, where they can accept the invitation to face these thrilling and demandingĀ gauntlets.

4. Boss Rematch Mod

The Boss Rematch mod offers a straightforward way to relive boss battles in Elden Ring. To access the rematches, players must first burn the Erdtree and then travel to East Capital Rampart Grace or teleport to Erdtree Sanctuary Grace, which will transport them to the arena. Although this mod provides a convenient way to refight bosses, it comes with some limitations.

For instance, certain boss fights are restricted to the Lyndell Colosseum PvP arena, and some battles have specific constraints, such as Ash summons being unavailable against Rennala and only being able to face Godrickā€™s second phase. Despite these limitations, the Boss Rematch mod serves its purpose, allowing players to engage in rematches against their preferred bosses in the Grand Colosseum, making it a decent option for those seeking to reliveĀ epicĀ battles.

3. Elden Ring Reforged Mod

Elden Ring Reforged is a transformative mod that revitalizes the game by introducing new mechanics, such as the deflect system and FP Regen System. Similar to the Convergence mod, it allows players to revive and rechallenge defeated bosses without progressing to New Game Plus (NG+).

By visiting the Table of Lost Grace, players can access the option to resurrect previously vanquished bosses, enabling them to relive epic battles at will. Additionally, the Reforged mod incorporates a difficulty system, providing veteran players with the opportunity to repeatedly confront familiar boss battles with increased challenges and higher stakes.

This innovative feature significantly enhances the gameā€™s replay value, enabling players to indulge in their favorite boss fights wheneverĀ theyĀ desire.

2. Boss Ressurection Mod

The Boss Resurrection mod is a straightforward yet convenient addition to Elden Ring, allowing players to revive and instantly access defeated bosses for repeated battles. The mod introduces a ā€œBoss Resurrectionā€ menu option, where players can view and select bosses organized by geographical region, including field bosses.

When a boss is chosen, the mod displays their current status, enabling players to resurrect them if theyā€™ve been previously defeated. The mod comes in two variants: the Lite version, which requires players to manually travel to the bossā€™s arena after resurrection, and the standard version, which offers instant teleportation to the bossā€™s location, streamlining the process for swiftĀ rematches.

1. Boss Arena Mod

The Boss Arena mod brings together all the base game bosses and most DLC bosses, making them accessible for players to battle at any time. To ensure a balanced experience, the mod adjusts enemy stats, including DLC bossesā€™ damage, to align with the base gameā€™s stat curve, eliminating the need for Scadutree Blessings.

Players can opt to revert to the original balancing if preferred. From the convenience of Roundtable Hold, players can effortlessly access and fight any enemy in the game, from minor foes to powerful Demigods and Gods. Additionally, all necessary NPCs are available at the Roundtable Hold, allowing players to quickly start or resume their journey.

3. How to Replay Boss Battles Without Mods

For players who prefer not to modify game files or use mods, this method allows for boss rematches by manually managing saved files. Hereā€™s a step-by-step guide:

Reach the desired boss and rest at the nearby Site of Grace, saving the game. If the boss is already defeated, start a New Game+ to respawn it and save it before the fight.

Quit the game and locate the Elden Ring save files in C:Users[username]AppDataRoamingEldenRing.

Identify the saved files and copy them to a new folder (e.g., on the desktop), renaming them to indicate the boss it precedes.

Proceed to defeat the boss in your original save. To refight the boss, replace your original save with the boss-specific save file.

This method can be repeated for multiple bosses but be sure to keep a backup of your primary save file to avoid losing progress. Although this approach is more laborious, itā€™s the only mod-free way to replay boss battles in Elden Ring and the Shadow of theĀ ErdtreeĀ DLC.

Elden Ringā€™s open-ended nature allows players to explore and define their own journey, making replays appealing as different endings resonate with different players. However, the ability to replay specific boss fights would enhance the experience without detracting from it. Currently, players must jump through hoops to make it happen. It would be great if the developers made it a built-in feature, making it easy for players to reliveĀ epicĀ battles.

Good luck, Tarnished, as you embark on the journey to relive Elden Ringā€™s most epic battlesĀ onceĀ again!
