Remember Acclaim? Well, It’s Back in More Than Just Pog Form
Legendary publisher revived

If you played games in the 90s, then youâll remember Acclaim.
The publisherâs distinctive font and rainbow coloured logo is seared into our memories â it showed in front of literally hundreds of classic games, including the likes of NBA Jam, Mortal Kombat, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, and so, so many more.
Well, after filing for bankruptcy in 2004, the publisherâs been resurrected, and itâs plotting a livestream on 10th September from 11:30AM PT to reveal a new lineup.
If youâre not sure what time that is in your country, then weâve embedded a guide below:
North America: 11:30am PDT / 12:30pm MDT / 1:30pm CDT / 2:30pm EDTUK/Ire: 7:30pm BSTEurope: 8:30pm CEST / 9:30pm EESTAsia/Oceania: 3:30am (Thu) JST / 2:30am (Thu) AWST / 4:30am (Thu) AEST
Itâs unclear exactly what Acclaim is cooking, but it seems itâs signed titles synonymous with the publisherâs past. So, expect arcade sports games and exciting 16-bit adventures â a few projects are actually teased in the trailer embedded above.
âWeâre not here to chase ghosts,â explained new Acclaim CEO Alex Josef in a press release. âWeâre here to take the energy and chaos that made Acclaim unforgettable and channel it into something new. The old screens are cracking, and whatâs coming through is something exciting and different.â
The teaser trailerâs blurb adds:
âBlink and you might miss it. Hidden in the static, behind the glow of CRT screens, are the titles that will lay the foundation for this exciting new chapter for Acclaim. This isnât nostalgia for its own sake. Itâs something else: a kind of retrofuturenostalgia, paying homage to and embracing the brandâs unmistakable DNA and history while charting a bold new course into the future.â
Well, weâve loved many of Acclaimâs games over the years, so weâre excited to see what itâs got cooking. Weâll certainly be watching the live stream with intrigue.
