REPORT: Cesar Pina Negotiating Plea Deal In Real Estate Fraud Case
Cesar Pina is negotiating a plea deal with federal authorities concerning his alleged real estate scams, per court documents. As The Shade Room previously reported, Pina has been accused of defrauding dozens of people of millions of dollars in relation to real estate investments.
Pina was arrested and charged with one count of wire fraud in October.
More Details Regarding The Recent Filing In Cesar Pinaâs Case
According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, Pina is âattempting to strike a plea deal with federal prosecutors.â Screenshots shared in a tweet on Thursday, January 4, by real estate investor Tony âThe Closerâ indicate that an âOrder of Continuanceâ filing was made on December 27, 2023.
According to Cornell Law School, a continuance is âwhat a court may grant to delay proceedings until a later date.â
The filing suggests a continuance has been granted once before in Pinaâs case. However, his counsel has requested another in an âattempt to resolveâ the case and âavoid a trial.â
â
Counsel for the parties represented that this additional continuance is necessary for effective preparation and to permit the parties to attempt to resolve this case prior to indictment and thereby avoid a trial,â clause three of the filing reads.
The filing goes on to assert that Counsel for the United States has also found that âthis continuance is necessary.â
Furthermore, Pina has given consent for this continuance.

The order of continuance then asserts that the Court has granted the order of continuance for three particular causes.
One of the causes states that âplea negotiations are currently in progress for Pina.â
ââŠThe circumstances of this case require giving defense counsel a reasonable amount of additional time for effective preparation,â the filing reads. âPlea negotiations are currently in progress, and both the United States and the defendant desire additional time to negotiate a plea agreement, which would render grand jury proceedings and a trial in this matter unnecessary⊠Thus the ends of justice served by granting continuance⊠outweigh the best interest of the public and the defendant in a speedy trial.â
Ultimately, the order of continuance was granted to Pina and both counsel teams with a deadline of Thursday, February 29.

As The Shade Room previously reported, Pina initially faced up to twenty years in prison if convicted of wire fraud. Additionally, he was also fined $250,000.
DJ Envy Is Also Facing Potential Arrest
Pinaâs business associate, DJ Envy, has also found himself in hot water in relation to Pinaâs alleged crimes. As The Shade Room previously reported, Envy promoted Pinaâs real estate investment opportunities on the nationally syndicated radio show, âThe Breakfast Club.â
Since then, victims of Pinaâs alleged scams alleged they wouldnât have participated had it not been for Envyâs endorsement.
Envy has not been hit with charges in relation to the case. However, he has been ordered to produce âcommunications and documentsâ related to Pinaâs commercial bankruptcy filing by Monday, January 8.
If Envy does not comply before that deadline, he may be arrested.
