Report: Eagles will receive 2026 second-round pick from Jets if Haason Reddick gets traded to NFC team

It seems like resolution might finally be around the corner when it comes to the Haason Reddick saga. The New York Jets have reportedly granted the veteran edge rusher, who recently hired Drew Rosenhaus after being dropped by his former agency, permission to seek a trade.

Why is this news relevant to the Philadelphia Eagles? Well, as a reminder, the Birds are not permitted to trade for Reddick.

But Reddickā€™s potential new landing spot is still very much of interest as it relates to the conditional draft pick compensation the Eagles received from the Jets.

Currently, the Eagles are only set to get the Jetsā€™ 2026 second-round pick if Reddick meets the following two conditions: 1) 10 sacks … AND … 2) 67.5% of defensive snaps played. Otherwise, the Eagles will receive the Jetsā€™ 2026 third-round pick.

However, according to Josina Anderson, the Eagles will automatically receive the Jetsā€™ 2026 second-round pick if Reddick gets traded to an NFC team.

So, thatā€™s good news!

Unless, of course, Reddick is traded to an NFC team thatā€™s a threat to the Eaglesā€™ contending chances.

On that front, thereā€™s some thought that the Detroit Lions could be interested in Reddick after losing Aidan Hutchinson to a season-ending injury. Thatā€™d be a really nice replacement option for them.

But perhaps Reddick will end up elsewhere. The Jets might not want to trade him to the NFC knowing that theyā€™ll be giving up their 2026 second-round pick instead of their third.

Or maybe he just signs an extension and stays in New York? Probably not.

However it shakes out, the Reddick situation bears monitoring.
