Report – Nottingham Forest set to open contract talks with Super Eagle star

English Premier League side Nottingham Forest are reportedly preparing to open contract talks with Super Eagles star Ola Aina, following his impressive return to English football, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian international joined Forest from Torino FC in the 2022-23 transfer window, signing a one-year deal with the Tricky Trees.

His outstanding performances quickly led to a contract extension through 2025. Recent reports now suggest that Forest are looking to extend his stay even further, beyond the 2025 season.

The Nigeria international has been a key player for both Nottingham and the Nigerian Eagles, consistently delivering strong performances.

He was instrumental in Nigeria’s run to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, showcasing his versatility and reliability.

Although the former Chelsea defender has contributed just one goal and one assist for Nottingham Forest, his defensive solidity and attacking prowess have been crucial for the Reds.

This season, Aina has become a regular starter under manager Nuno Espirito Santo, featuring in all six of Forest’s Premier League matches, including a standout performance at Anfield against Liverpool, which earned him widespread praise.

On the international stage, Aina has also been a regular fixture for Nigeria, playing the full 90 minutes in their 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda under coach Augustine Eguavoen.
