Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce reportedly gave a “powerful” speech that left teammates in tears ahead of Super Bowl LVIII.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reported Kelce’s speech was described as “unbelievable” by those in the room. Patrick Mahomes and Chris Jones also addressed the team at its hotel.

Kelce has been on a tear during the Chiefs’ playoff run, racking up 23 receptions for 262 yards and three touchdowns over the past three games. He caught 11 passes for 116 yards and one touchdown in the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The 34-year-old also set the record for postseason receptions with 156.

There is no word on what Kelce said during the speech, but it’s been an emotional week heading into Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Kelce admitted earlier this week that things have gotten intense in practice.

“I’m not going to lie, and I’m not going to say who, but things got a little bit chippy in practice,” Kelce told reporters Thursday.

When the Chiefs and 49ers played in the Super Bowl four years ago, Kelce caught six passes for 43 yards and a touchdown.
