Resident Evil 2, 3 PS1 Ports Disappoint with No Trophy Support on PS5, PS4

Not like this

A trip down memory lane seems to be the only real reason for veteran PlayStation users to return to Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis on PS1 today, as the two classics have landed on PS Plus Premium and the PS Store without any Trophy support.

The two games are available now as part of a subscription to the top PS Plus tier, or you can buy each one standalone for £7.99 / $9.99. However, as per player reports and the lack of any Trophy lists on Exophase, you won’t be earning a Platinum Trophy for these two survival horror classics.

Unfortunately, publisher Capcom has a track record of this. Resident Evil: Director’s Cut and Dino Crisis don’t have any Trophy support either. Since Trophy support for these classic releases has become more commonplace over recent years, it was hoped Capcom would implement Trophy lists this time into Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.

Based on today’s evidence, that hasn’t happened.

You could source some hope of a future update patching Trophy support in, as other developers have done for the likes of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, Echoshift, and more. Again, though, Capcom hasn’t gone back to the first Resident Evil game or Dino Crisis to give them a Platinum Trophy to unlock.

For now, all you can do is play two of the greatest survival horror titles ever made — that’s still a pretty exciting reason to play. You can view the full list of PS Plus Extra, Premium game additions through the link.

Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he’s found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
