From Henderson comes a compelling story that will surely have readers flipping the pages as it centers on the life of a young adolescent male named Ihaka. Ihaka wishes to prove his manhood to his village, so he sets off to the sea by taking a boat out to go fishing in the pursuit of outperforming the rest of the men in his family, including his own father.
Despite his courage and strong will to achieve this goal, Ihaka ends up lost at sea. The experience causes him to experience a series of terrible situations: dehydration, starvation, and even hallucinations during the period all aside from the dangers of encountering a shark in the waters.
The story immediately begins with the part where Ihaka is now alone on his small boat floating on the moving sea. While he struggles to survive in the turmoil that he is currently in, he also thinks about whether he still has a chance to return home and see his family again.
