The Los Angeles Lakers were unable to pry Dan Hurley away from the UConn Huskies, as the head coach will stay in the college game and pursue a third straight men’s basketball title.

And former Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook—whose time with the team could most accurately be described as an abject disaster—appeared to enjoy L.A.’s misfortune:

Westbrook, 35, spent parts of two seasons with the Lakers, and by his second year he had been relegated to the bench and was largely scapegoated for the team’s struggles before he was eventually traded to the Utah Jazz. He was then released and signed with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Never mind that pairing a non-shooter like Westbrook was always an odd choice next to players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who needed spacing around them. Or that Westbrook was a ball-dominant player and James has generally run the offense on any team he’s played for. Or that the rest of the roster was poorly constructed around the team’s stars.

So Westbrook’s time in L.A. was messy, to say the least. That makes a touch of pettiness from him on social media easier to understand.
