The New Orleans Saints are hiring the University of Montana offensive analyst Scott Linehan, per a report by Nick Underhill.

The Saints are hiring Scott Linehan to their staff, according to a source.

Linehan has a ton of experience. He was the HC of the Rams. An OC for Minnesota, Miami, Detroit, Dallas. Pass game coordinator for LSU. Most recently worked as an offensive analyst for Montana.

Linehan, 61, began his coaching career in high school in 1987 before moving to college coaching in 1989 at the University of Idaho. Linehan wouldn’t begin coaching in the NFL until 2002 when he joined the Minnesota Vikings staff as the offensive coordinator. He would later have stints with the Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams, Detroit Lions, and the Dallas Cowboys.

Linehan mentored Kellen Moore when he was signed as an undrafted player for the Lions. He was later part of the same coaching staff in Dallas.

Scott Linehan was the Cowboys OC when Kellen Moore signed there as a player, and he’s the one who championed Moore to become the QBs coach in 2018.

The two guys are from hometowns about 10 minutes apart in Washington and have known each other forever. https://t.co/5i59tOk9Qn

While his role with the staff hasn’t been revealed yet, it’s no surprise that Kellen Moore has added a well-experienced coach to his young coaching staff.
