Saints DE Cam Jordan partners with GENYOUth to help tackle Louisiana youth food insecurity

On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, New Orleans Saints DE Cam Jordan joined officials from the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee, GENYOUth, and NOLA Public Schools to kick off an initiative to help tackle Louisiana youth food insecurity.

Jordan attended a press conference and ribbon cutting at Benjamin Franklin High School in New Orleans to help launch GENYOUth’s Super School Meals, a major community service initiative that will equip over 59 high-need Louisiana schools with Grab and Go school meal equipment, including mobile meal carts and milk coolers which will help provide 8 million meals to more than 30,000 students.

1 in 4 children in Louisiana are food insecure, compared to 1 in 5 nationally. Louisiana currently ranks 49th in the child poverty rate and 48th in median household income, out of the 50 states. The percentage of free or reduced-price students participating in daily school meals in Louisiana is 91.9%, an increase of over 30% over the past 10 years.
