Samuel Chukwueze: German defender Malick Thiaw says Nigerian winger is AC Milan’s funniest star
AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw has named Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze as the funniest player at the Italian club, Soccernet.ng reports.
Chukwueze joined AC Milan last summer from Villarreal and took a while to settle down at San Siro.
The Nigerian forward has played second fiddle to Christian Pulisic as Milan boss Stefano Pioli preferred the United States’ attacker on the right flank.
Apparently, sitting on the bench and bidding his time did not rob Chukwueze of his sense of humour and his penchant for making his teammates smile.
During an interview with Italian publication Gazzetta, German defender Thiaw was asked who was the funniest player in the AC Milan dressing room.
And the 22-year-old former Schalke 04 centre-back wasted no time in naming Chukwueze as the player with the top comedy vibes.
Thiaw pointed at Ruben Loftus-Cheek and goalkeeper Mike Maignan as Milan’s strongest stars while he chose Portugal’s Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez as the club’s most talented players.
Despite his limited playing time, Chukwueze can be pleased with his contribution to Milan’s cause this season.
The former Golden Eaglets star managed three goals, including two in the UEFA Champions League, and three assists in 33 games across all competitions.
Regardless of what happens in their last two games of the season, AC Milan will finish second in Serie A behind champions Inter Milan.
