San Francisco T100 Triathlon World Tour: Full women’s start list with Haug and Sodaro OUT
Olympic medalist and two-time IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Taylor Knibb will look to clinch a first T100 Tour win this weekend, as the inaugural San Francisco T100 takes place in California.
Dominant at IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside earlier this season, the 26-year-old is the most versatile triathlete on the planet, and will look to cement her status as the best middle distance athlete in the world on Saturday.
Up against formidable opposition, including Australian ace Ashleigh Gentle, Knibb will have her work cut out, with a number of other athletes also capable of contending for the podium.
No-go for Anne Haug and Chelsea Sodaro
However two athletes not there are Germany’s Anne Haug and American Chelsea Sodaro, #4 and #11 respectively in the PTO rankings.
Haug was the brilliant winner of the PTO European Open last season but explained on her Instagram page: “Tough, tougher, @t100triathlon Escape from Alcatraz. Sadly, I’m currently not capable of facing this challenge.
“Due to my severe medical history the last few months, I’ve still not completely recovered yet, the exposure to extreme cold water conditions (expected 12-13 degrees) would endanger my health and healing process in a way, we can not justify at the moment.
“I’m so grateful to be back in full training and even able to compete again, but under these specific conditions, I sadly have to withdraw. I wish everyone a great race and a safe escape.”
And Sodaro, the 2022 IRONMAN World Champion, posted on her Instagram: “Sad to announce that I won’t be racing in San Francisco this weekend. After some setbacks over the last several weeks I’ve decided to prioritize my mental and physical health as I get back to full training.
“The hardest part for me is that after living and training in the Bay Area for many years this almost felt like a home event. I was looking forward to seeing lots of familiar faces out there. Hoping that the T100 comes back to Alcatraz next year. This race is going to be EPIC.
“I’ll be cheering on all of my amazing colleagues from afar. See you in London! ❤️”

What time does the race start and how can I watch live?
In San Francisco, racing will take place on Saturday June 8, with the professional women beginning at 06:45 local time. This corresponds to 09:45 on the East Coast, 14:45 in the UK and 15:45 in Central Europe.
