Saquon Barkley is NFC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season

Saquon Barkley is NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season, according to an official league announcement.

Honestly, he deserved this just for the play where he broke two tackles and then jumped over a Jacksonville Jaguars defender BACKWARDS alone. All told, he had 27 carries for 159 yards (5.9 average) and one rushing touchdown … plus three catches for 40 yards and one receiving touchdown in the Eaglesā€™ most recent win.

This marks the third time Barkley is taking home the NFC POTW award this season. He was previously honored in Week 1 and Week 7.

Barkley has now won NFC POTW six times in his career. So, that means he had three in six seasons with the New York Giants … before having three in just eight games with the Philadelphia Eagles. Pretty wild just how good heā€™s been!

Barkley is logging 5.9 yards per carry (previous career high: 5.0 in 2018) and 6.1 yards per touch (previous career high: 5.8 in 2018) so far. Heā€™s currently on pace for 2,276 yards from scrimmage, which would be the 13th-most ever in a single season.

Honestly, Barkley deserves MVP consideration. He wonā€™t win that since itā€™s a quarterback award. And he might not win Offensive Player of the Year, either, with Derrick Henry also having an amazing season. But itā€™s not off the table.

And regardless of individual success, Barkley figures to keep powering the Eagles to team success if heā€™s able to keep this pace up.
