Dominic Sessa is cooking up his next project.
The Holdovers star rode a ferry June 19 in Hyannis, Mass., while filming scenes for the upcoming Anthony Bourdain biopic Tony, in which he plays the title role.
During filming, Dominic, 22, evoked the late Parts Unknown hostâs early years as he wore his loose curls in a shaggy hairstyle. As for his wardrobe, the actor donned a red collared shirt underneath a black leather jacket for the nautical outing.
The setting of the shoot also indicates that the film will depict Anthonyâs first foray into the culinary world. After all, his years spent in nearby Provincetown in the early 1970s were particularly formativeâand not just for kicking off his career in the kitchen.
âI found my way back to my own past,â he said during a visit to the city in a November 2014 episode of the CNN series, âboth in Massachusettsâwhich is where I started my career as a cook at age 17âand my own career with heroin.â
Indeed, Anthonyâwho died by suicide in 2018 at age 61âcouldnât help but reflect on his drug use as a young adult. And though he previously told Biography.com that he gave up heroin in the 1980s, he admitted during his 2014 visit that he had mixed feelings about his experimentation with substances.

âLooking at your own past and your own use,â he continued, âone is always filled with sweetness, sadness and regret.â
The upcoming biographical film, produced by A24, wonât be the first time Anthonyâs life is examined onscreen. He was previously the subject of the 2021 documentary Roadrunner, which featured interviews with his friends and loved onesâas well as footage of Anthony himself recorded prior to his death.

âYou’re probably going to find out about it anyway,â he said in a trailer for the doc, âso here’s a little preemptive truth telling: There’s no happy ending.â
