Sela free show on Saturday night for Newcastle United fans – Thrills massive crowds
Sela put on their latest show for Newcastle United fans on Saturday night.
The football club’s main sponsor putting on a free show.
It had been teased / trailered earlier in the week (see here) and was scheduled to start at 10pm last night (Saturday).
So would it live up to the hype, the tease?
Well, the only disappointment was that more Newcastle United fans couldn’t get down on the quayside to see it. The place was absolutely rammed!
Those who got there too late to get a prime position opposite the Baltic, having to be inventive in finding an alternative spot to get the next best position to watch the show.
Impressive stuff from Sela as they showcase the quality of what they can do once again.
A great atmosphere down on the quayside and well worth the trip down. The beers before and after not doing any harm either!

The Mag report from Aaron Gales – 4 June 2024:
Newcastle United supporters taking a stroll along the banks of the River Tyne late on Tuesday night wouldn’t have been able to miss this.
The sight of a ‘BMX for Sale’ meme being beamed up on the side of the Baltic.
Made famous as part of the spectacular pre-match displays organised by Wor Flags, ‘BMX for Sale’ harks back to the glorious days of the mid 90s when Kenny Dalglish’s side travelled to Monaco in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup.
With Newcastle fans enjoying the plush surroundings and expensive vehicles parked around the stadium, they offered local fans the opportunity to buy a more modest form of transport to navigate the streets of the Principality.
However, instead of the number on the Baltic taking you through to a second hand bike dealer, supporters who called 0191 486 2200 on Tuesday night, received a voice message which recalled Kevin Keegan’s infamous Sky Sports interview saying:
“Hello there. We don’t have that BMX for sale any more unfortunately… But what we do have is an invitation for you to come to the Quayside this Saturday night. Sela, Newcastle United’s sponsor, would LOVE IT if you could assemble opposite the Baltic, where they are putting on special shows to celebrate our club, our city and our fans, after 10pm. You don’t want to miss out! See you on Saturday!”
The event is free of charge and tickets aren’t required.
This is the latest initiative from Sela, since agreeing a reported £25 million a year shirt sponsorship deal with Newcastle at the end of last season.
They sponsored the Sela Cup, a pre-season tournament at St James’ Park which featured both the men’s and women’s teams and put on a spectacular drone display ahead of Newcastle’s return to UEFA Champions League action.
Their most recent campaign was their Unsilence The Crowd initiative – where unique ‘haptic’ shirts allowed deaf fans to ‘feel’ the sound of the crowd for the first time.’
