Selena Gomez Is Doing French Girl Chic Circa 1947

J’adore Dior. And so does Selena Gomez, who brought back French girl chic with a vengeance in a flared black Dior minidress, accessorized with a black scarf draped over her head.

Gomez’s sleeveless little black dress, which you can see in photos published in Elle, has a low square neckline and a tight-fitting bodice before flaring out into a playful circle skirt. The silhouette very much evokes Dior’s iconic “new look” of the 1940s and so couldn’t be more perfect for a Parisian night out, especially when paired with a casual headscarf. Gomez styled the dress with semi-sheer black tights, pointed-toe Versace pumps, and some delicate jewels. And no French girl look would be complete without a bright red lip.

The reason for Gomez’s Paris visit appears to be her new single “Love On,” dropping on February 22. On Instagram, the Only Murders in the Building actor promoted the new song alongside a carousel of snapshots from her time in the City of Love, which included several additional all-black looks. In another Instagram post, Selena Gomez wrote in French, “Qu’est-ce que je vais te nommer? Je vais te nommer. L’amour. L’amour tendre.” This loosely translates to: “What will I name you? I will name you. Love. Tender love.”

Ooh la la, indeed.
